– Minneapolis, MN –
Abbott Apartments consists of the historic rehabilitation of the Abbott Hospital complex into 123 units bringing a much needed affordable market-rate rental housing to the south side of downtown Minneapolis.
Careful planning has gone into the renovation by utilizing the visual history of the structure. The original Abbott Hospital was constructed in 1910. Subsequent additions bear the names of noted Philanthropists that served the neighborhood until 1957. The complex served as assisted living facilities known as the City of Lakes Transitional Care Center and the Ebenezer Caroline Center until 2004. The historic character of the complex will be closely matched to the original design. Major upgrades in the outdated mechanical and electrical systems will be combined with energy efficiency and modern features that reflect the “something extra” that the conscientious consumer expects.
The apartments, 123 units, will comprise a mixture of sizes, shapes and views of downtown Minneapolis, but share in upscale finishes such as wood flooring and granite kitchen countertops. Amenities available to the tenant include a meeting and party room with serving kitchen, fitness room, bike storage facilities, outdoor landscaped plaza with grill and seating. Parking is available in the heated basement (40 stalls), plaza (26 stalls) or surface parking lot (38 stalls).
Palanisami & Associates, Inc was the prime firm for the project.
Completed: December 2013
