Structural Engineer, P.E.

Palanisami & Associates, Inc. (PAI) is seeking a Structural Engineer licensed in the State of Minnesota for immediate full-time employment.

PAI, founded in 1986, provides structural evaluation and design services for new and existing institutional, commercial, and industrial buildings, including health care facilities, hotels, commercial structures, public buildings, and parking structures, from conceptual design through completion of construction.

The job responsibilities for this position will be primarily focused on structural evaluation and restoration of existing buildings and parking structures.

Salary is based on experience. Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, and two weeks paid vacation.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing on-site investigations and evaluations of existing buildings and parking garages, including precast and cast-in-place conventionally reinforced and post-tensioned concrete structures.
  • Preparation of detailed condition studies, including annual reports required by city ordinance.
  • Cost estimating.
  • Structural design calculations.
  • Preparation of bid documents including drawings and specifications for structural restoration projects.
  • Overall project management and communication with engineers, drafters, property owners and managers, building officials, and contractors.
  • Construction administration including review of shop drawings, on-site inspections, and coordination with contractors.
  • Effective client communication.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota.
  • Experience with structural engineering software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working effectively with multi-disciplined design team(s).
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit will be considered a plus.

Structural Revit/CAD Technician

Palanisami & Associates, Inc. (PAI) is seeking a Structural Revit/CAD Technician for immediate full-time employment. PAI, founded in 1986, provides structural design services for institutional, commercial, and industrial buildings, including health care facilities, hotels, commercial structures, public buildings, parking structures, etc., from conceptual design through completion of construction.

As a technician at PAI, you will be exposed to a wide variety of projects, both large and small. He/She will be responsible for producing structural construction documents and coordinating the design with other team members.

Resposibilities:

  • Prepare plans, details, and construction documents in Revit and AutoCAD while working with other team members and our engineers.
  • Maintain organized communication with team members, clients, and contractors.
  • Answer questions on plans during construction.
  • Organize all correspondence, design materials, and construction information related to the project.
  • Providing an accurate accounting of time spent on projects broken down by type of work.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with Revit AND AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of drafting standards
  • The ability to read and understand construction plans and documents.
  • Prior structural experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with performing basic computer tasks in Windows.
  • Self motivated and strong attention to details
