The Hindu<br \/>\nSociety of Minnesota welcomed worshippers<br \/>\nand the surrounding community to celebrate<br \/>\nthe consecration of the temple, one of the<br \/>\nlargest Hindu places of worship built to date in<br \/>\nNorth America. It will serve the Hindu<br \/>\ncommunity of the greater Minnesota region.<br \/>\nPalanisami and Associates provided the\u00a0structural, mechanical, electrical design\u00a0engineering and pre-cast concrete design\u00a0engineering for this project.\u00a0Palanisami collaborated closely with the board\u00a0of the Hindu Society of Minnesota to interpret\u00a0its vision for design of the temple&#8217;s sacred and\u00a0secular spaces.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-100 alignright\" alt=\"church1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palanisami.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/church1-300x224.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.palanisami.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/church1-300x224.png 300w, https:\/\/www.palanisami.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/church1.png 375w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Designers were guided by ancient Indian<br \/>\nprinciples for architecture and space planning,<br \/>\nknown as Vaastu shastra. These guidelines<br \/>\nprescribed the placement of the temple on the<br \/>\nsite and its east-west facing orientation. The<br \/>\nresult is a grand structure that holistically<br \/>\nintegrates traditional architectural elements of<br \/>\nIndia, ceremonial protocol and modern secular<br \/>\nfunctions while maintaining necessary<br \/>\nseparation of spaces.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"line-height: 24px; font-size: 16px;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.palanisami.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/church2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-99 alignleft\" alt=\"church2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palanisami.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/church2.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Materials that would withstand the extreme<br \/>\nweather conditions of Minnesota were<br \/>\nselected. Pre-cast concrete panels were<br \/>\nchosen, as they satisfy this requirement and<br \/>\nevoke the grand scale and mass of ancient<br \/>\nstone temples of India.
