PAI performed structural investigation of the apartment building. As per PAI’s recommendations replacement of deteriorated brick wall including CMU backup wall at 32nd story pool room of apartment building was performed. Deterioration was due to moisture and humidity from interior pool room. Exterior brick had expanded upward against the relieving angles due to moisture retention and thermal movement, creating a dangerous outward bow in the wall. Temporary bracing was installed. Existing brick and CMU backup were removed entirely. A new waterproofed steel stud backup wall, flashing, weeps, brick relieving angles, and brick were installed on two sides of pool room. A Hydro-Mobile mast climber and scaffolding on balconies were used to access the high-rise work area.
